Although Andrew turned 4 this year, every time someone mentioned "4" he insisted that he is #1. I quite agree with you buddy. Our little Andrew is such a funny guy. I've decided that he took so long to talk to us because he was too busy inside his own imagination. He says the funniest things, and when he does give you a glimpse of what he's thinking about, it is well worth the wait.
Andrew is learning and growing so much these days. He has started the same reading lessons we did with Parker, and has had huge success. I'm so impressed with him, because we've started him at a younger age than we did Parker and he's really picking it up fast. He's also doing our kindergarten math and excelling with that as well. As I said, this kid has a great imagination, and he can just play and play for hours. Sometimes his big brother gets frustrated with him because he doesn't always need his company or want to play the same things. Andrew is the family tenderheart and is always sweet and nice to everyone, especially the babies. He is also easily provoked and hates to be teased...which unfortunately happens often.
We had a great time celebrating with Andrew this year. Lucky for him we got to drag it out over several days because Daddy had to work on the actual day of his birthday. So we had a nice breakfast, opened presents......
(Andrew has always LOVED "Lightming NaQueen")
and then Andrew got to help me make his birthday cake while Dad was at work. We enjoyed his all time favorite meal for lunch........skadeddi of course. Then for dinner we took it easy and had pizza, enjoyed our cake and each other's company.
Notice the 1 on his cake? I did get a 4 just in case but he wasn't having any of it so I let him be #1 and we just added 4 individual candles to the cake as well. Like Parker, I offered to make Andrew all sorts of cakes, but he stuck with what he knew he liked....the pirate ship cake we made last year.
The weekend before Andrew's birthday we also enjoyed a family movie night, and the weekend after we took everyone "fishing" per Andrew's request. The fishing extravaganza deserves it's own post.....so stay tuned. I've got so many cute pictures it's going to be hard to choose!
We sure love our Babycakes and are so glad that he is part of our family. Of course all of my children hold a special place in my heart.....but Andrew does for a very specific reason. I feel that Andrew was sent to us to teach us that Heavenly Father has a plan for us that may be very different from what we expected, but it is always infinitely better. He has taught us that love is always multiplied, not divided when shared. He has also taught us a lot about patience. Andrew has such a sweet presence about him, and I am so thankful each and every day that he is our boy!
