The Biggest Boy in the World

Sorry, I know I'm horribly behind on posting important events in our lives lately. I've lost a bit of the excitement since my blog became ugly. My poor, dear, sweet husband was trying to help....and it flopped. And I can't fix it yet. But anyway......life goes on. And so will my blog.

The biggest boy in the world turned 4 this month. And I cried. How can 4 years have gone by so quickly?! He was thrilled about the whole thing though. Really he's 4 going on 24. We had such a fun time celebrating the day he made our family more than just the two of us.

The festivities started off with a birthday crown. Really it looked so much cooler in my mind, but to a 4 year old, it was pretty darn awesome. It was laying out on the table when he got up, and he spotted it right away and came into my bedroom to ask if it was for him and could he put it on? Then we made breakfast. Green pancakes at his request.

Really, his excitement over the crown made me feel so glad that I did it. When asked by his grandma on the phone what he'd gotten for his birthday, of all the cool presents he could have told her, the first thing he mentioned was his crown. And he wore it most of the day.

He was nice enough to insist that I wear a birthday crown too, so I borrowed one from Princess P. Pardon the horrible picture of me. This cute one makes up for it right? I'm so glad these two have each other. The very coolest present was of course, from Dad. His very own big boy baseball glove and balls. This was the one time he had to get serious and take off the crown. Because you have to wear a baseball hat to play catch, right? Dad was nice enough to also bring home some old baseball gloves that Babycakes could play with too, and this was Princess P's reaction to being left out. This girl doesn't miss a thing, and will not be left out of any game because it's "for boys". This was the birthday cake. It didn't look quite as cool as the picture I was trying to copy, but P Doodle loved it and that's all that mattered to me. All in all, it was a pretty darn good birthday, and he was in heaven.
Does this face say "I love my cake" or what?
P Doodle, we love you so much. You are the best helper and can outwork even your Daddy. You make us laugh everyday, and it is so obvious that you were perfectly suited to come to this family to be the BIG brother. You are so good at taking care of your brother and sisters and it's awesome to see how much you really love them. You are also excellent at taking care of Mommy and being the "man of the house" when Daddy has to work out of town. We love you to bits and although it makes me a bit sad to see you growing up so fast, I'm excited for all that you are learning and doing now. You love primary, you are begging me to learn to read, can't stand not to be busy working and love to play hard, especially with Daddy. We hope you know how much you are loved! Happy birthday!

Oh, believe me... my blog has gone through plenty of ugly stages when I've tried to fix things and all has gone wrong and then I give up and scream at the computer and leave it until another day when I have more patience. ;)

You have the cutest kids ever! I love the photo of Paige's disappointment about not getting to play baseball. Too cute!
